Hosting a party with underage drinking doesn’t make it safer. It makes it illegal.
The Ardsley SAYF Coalition would like to introduce you to a new resource for Westchester parents. The following is provided by Power to the Parent, you can visit their web site at powertotheparent.org

In the struggle against teen drinking and substance abuse, there is a first line of defense. Parents. Kids listen to us. If we can get to them before their peers do, we have a far better chance to keep them safe.

Kids don’t know necessarily where drinking should stop. Or that it ought to stop at all. But parents know. Teen drinking has to stop before it ever gets a chance to start. The drink stops here. With us. With you.

Power to the Parent is here to empower you, to give you the hardcore facts, strategies and information, and to help you get through to your teens. Together we can do this.

Teenagers have their whole life ahead of them. Education and career. Friends and family. One wonderful chapter after another. As parents, there is nothing in our own lives that we will ever do that is as important as making sure our kids have the chance to make that journey.

Power To The Parent helps Westchester parents learn how to keep teens safe from alcohol and other drugs. On this website, access information and get inspiration.

• The Parent Toolkit provides tips to keep your teen safe
• Get the facts about alcohol and other drugs
• Understand the laws that affect Westchester families
• Learn the warning signs
• Find more resources to empower you

As parents, we want our teenagers to live the best life possible. There are so many great moments ahead for them. Let’s do everything we can to help them live to tell about it.

Power to the Parent is a program of the Westchester Coalition for Drug and Alcohol Free Youth. The Coalition is an “umbrella coalition” for 30 local coalitions and works with the Westchester County Office of Drug Abuse Prevention and STOP-DWI. Robert P. Astorino, Westchester County Executive, and Janet DiFiore, Westchester County District Attorney, serve as co-chairs of the Coalition.
